A New York City man out on lifetime parole for murdering his own mother in has been arrested in the vicious attack on a year-old Asian American woman on her way to church near Times Square, police said Wednesday. Cops charged year-old Brandon Elliot with assault and hate crime offenses after officers blanketed the midtown Manhattan neighborhood with wanted posters featuring his photo. Elliot was released from prison in after serving time for murdering his mother 17 years prior, according to an NYPD spokesperson. It goes against every fiber of who we are. Elliot is facing two counts of assault in the second degree as a hate crime and one count of attempted assault in the first degree as a hate crime, according to the district attorney's office.

Police said Brandon Elliot, 38, is the man seen on surveillance video kicking and stomping the woman near Times Square on Monday. The woman was attacked in front of an apartment building. Two lobby workers witnessed the violence but no one intervened or called , police said. Their union said Wednesday they told a union representative that they waited until the attacker left because he had a knife and then flagged down a police car.

Their union said they called for help immediately. The attacker was able to casually walk away while onlookers watched, the video showed. Go and try and help.
